Trivia # 49: Barbie's Birthday

Did you know...

... that today is Barbie's birthday? Ruth Handler created the
Barbie doll on this date in 1959, naming her after her
daughter Barbara. Trivia fans: Barbie is from Willows, Wis.,
and attended Willows High School, she has had more than 108
careers, and Barbie and Ken broke up on Valentine's Day in
2004 after 43 years together. But they're still "friends." ;-)

Trivia # 48: "Happy Birthday to You" Birthday

Did you know...

... that today is the birthday of "Happy Birthday to You"?
Mildred J. Hill composed the tune for a song then known as
"Good Morning to All," first published in 1893, as a greeting
song for teachers to sing to their students. Her sister Patty
Smith Hill wrote the lyrics and, in 1924, added a stanza that
became the now popular birthday song, "Happy Birthday to You."
So think of Mildred and Patty whenever you sing out the
birthday song. ;-)

Trivia # 47: Nile River Tunnel

Did you know... 

... that today is the anniversary of the Nile River Tunnel?
The first tunnel under the Nile River was completed on March
2, 1998. The tunnel was dug to make room for a subway to run
under the Nile between the different sections of the city of
Cairo, Egypt.
