... that today is Amalthea Discovery Day? In 1892, American
astronomer Edward Barnard discovered Jupiter's fifth moon,
Amalthea. It was the first moon of Jupiter to be discovered
since Galileo's original discovery of the first four moons of
Jupiter in 1610. Celebrate by spending some time looking up at
the stars and planets tonight!

Jimmie Rodgers, known for his rhythmic yodeling, was born in
Meridian, Mississippi, in 1897. Trivia fans: Rodgers' affinity for
entertaining came at an early age, and the lure of the road was
irresistible to him. By age 13, he had twice organized and begun
traveling shows, only to be brought home by his father!
